The Humanitarianism and Conflict Response Institute is hosting a conference to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Henry Mayhew, social reformer, journalist and social researcher whose work London Labour and the London Poor (1851) provides a vivid account of mid-nineteenth century London and continues to shape how we view the Victorian Age.

Speakers confirmed include Carolyn Steedman, Bertrand Taithe, Donna Loftus, Karl Sabbagh and (intriguingly) Henry Mayhew.

The programme and furhter details can be found here.
