Editors Note: This is an archived blog post from 24/10/2011.

The History Society and Department of History is pleased to announce a careers event for anyone interested in working in the media, journalism, public relations, advertising, marketing or communication. Three guests will be speaking about what you need to get on your CV to get ahead in this field. It’ll be an informal event, with questions and a chance to mingle with our guests, who will be:

Russell Craig, Group Head of External Communications, Manchester Airports Group, the largest UK-owned airports operator. Find out more at http://www.magworld.co.uk/magweb.nsf

Sandy Lindsay, MD of Tangerine PR, and Northwest Entrepreneur of the Year 2011 finalist. Find out more at http://www.tangerinepr.com/ and read an interview with Sandy at http://www.featuresexec.com/bulletin/news.php?newsid=XLgzm

Alex Lynham (History, 2011). Alex graduated this summer, and has already gained work as a journalist, and is now employed by an advertising and PR agency: http://www.mosquitodigital.co.uk/comingsoon/index.htm

We will meet at 4pm on Wed 26 October in the Sam Alex Foyer for wine and mingling. The presentations will start at 4.30pm. They’ll be short, focused on identifying what you need to do to succeed, and with plenty of opportunity to ask further questions.

Whether you want to rule this career in or out – or just get a ‘reality check’ on what you need to get ahead in any career from professionals who are succeeding in their fields, come along. Please sign up at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=301147823244667
